Gum Disease is the inflammation of the gums, it occurs when plaque builds up below the gum line causing redness and soreness. Gum Disease will progress causing the gums to pull away from the roots of the teeth compromising the strength of your teeth. It has been linked to diabetes and heart disease. Caught early, Gum Disease is reversible.
The purpose of your TMJ, which is the hinge joint of your jaw bone, is to allow movement in your mouth. When the joint or the muscles supporting the joint are in disorder, this can cause pain, headaches and migraines in some cases. These conditions are referred to as TMD, meaning Temporomandibular disorder. It can be treated in many different ways, such as using a bite splint, stretching, physical therapy and over the counter medications. We truly believe in conservative treatment when it comes to treating these conditions and we will take the time to help you get better. .
Part of your oral examination is screening for Oral Cancer. Oral cancer is a deadly disease and we will check thoroughly to try to catch anything as early as possible.
